Can you get a tattoo on your stomach? ›

If you're thinking about getting a stomach tattoo, you should consider a few things. First, it's important to choose a design you won't grow tired of. After all, you will be stuck with this tattoo for the rest of your life. Also, stomach tattoos can be quite painful.

Stomach tattoos have a low-moderate to moderate pain level, depending on your sex assigned at birth, body shape and fat distribution. There are no bony areas on the stomach, so these tattoos hurt less than more painful placements like a ribcage or hip tattoo.

This makes the chest, relatively, a less painful spot to have tattooed for women. It's noticeably worse for men, however, who don't have the same amount of additional cushioning in the area.

The pain of a stomach tattoo will largely depend on the amount and distribution of fat around your customer's waist. For many people assigned female at birth, the centre of the stomach is more painful, and belly buttons aren't fun for anyone - although that might be more to do with ticklishness.

Placement. Some parts of the body are more prone to changes than others. Tattoos on parts of the body that frequently stretch and contract, like near joints or on areas like the belly, are more likely to distort over time.

Tattoos typically take two to four weeks to heal on the surface, but it can take three to six months to fully heal. The tattoo healing process typically involves a week of redness and oozing, followed by two to three weeks of itchiness and peeling. After about a month, the skin still internally heals.

Christianity. Some Christians take issue with tattooing, upholding the Hebrew prohibition. The Hebrew prohibition is based on interpreting Leviticus 19:28—"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you"—so as to prohibit tattoos. Interpretations of the passage vary, however.

The stomach is a difficult area to tattoo because of the extra skin as well as the fact that it is an extremely painful area to tattoo. The stomach is probably one of the most painful areas, which can make it harder on both you and the client.

Make sure to eat something a few hours before you come in. Getting tattooed on an empty stomach may cause you to feel faint, nauseated, or dizzy. Allow plenty of time for your visit. Your tattoo session will be most enjoyable if you have time to appreciate it.

The most painful places for women will be areas with more nerve endings like your nipples or breasts including between your breasts. If you're planning a sternum tattoo this can also be a painful spot, same as your ribs.

Sleep on Your Stomach

Sleeping directly on your tattoo can put excess pressure on the area, causing inflammation and irritation.
