The University of Cincinnati, UC College of Medicine and UC Medical Center have been home to many medical firsts, including the first FDA-approved prescription antihistamine, Benadryl; the oral polio vaccine, the country’s first training program for emergency medicine physicians and development of the clot-busting drug tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA—the first FDA-approved treatment for stroke.
